There Truly is a Reason for Man’s Best Friend

Recently two of my very dear friends Mieke and Mike, lost their beloved dog and family member Lewis to a brain tumour. Needless to say, they are really feeling this loss in their lives. Even though Lewis couldn’t speak with words, he communicated and shared so much.

Dogs have gained the title of “Man’s Best Friend” for one very solid and very good reason. They have the ability to really love unconditionally. They don’t care what you look like, if you did something stupid, if you’re rich or poor, if you live in a tent or a mansion. They love the essence within you and that is something beautiful and something we can all learn from.

Dogs trust their instincts, love without question, and share what they are feeling…good or bad. Does this make our world a better place? You bet.

Lewis, you made this world a better place and I thank you for it.

To love unconditionally is to feel what others are feeling and for you to write this beautiful piece is to love US unconditionally and that is LOVE. I love you Maggie girl! Thank you.

Thank you Mieke, Mike, Maggie and of course Lewis… for reminding us to look deeply into the eyes of our hounds and remember that unconditional love is exactly where we look for it. This pat is for Pixel, D

Who else could live with us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and always be happy to see us? The unconditional love that Lewis gave us will be forever missed along with his cheerful bark of “Hello”, I still hear him bark even though his body has left us. I love you Lewis and I thank you from the bottom of my heart Maggie for writing such a beautiful piece
    about booboo Lew!! xoxo

This is so sad. As someone who recently lost a beloved pet and understands that pain and emptiness all too well, my heart goes out to Mieke and Mike. I know how important Lewis was to them. They are in my thoughts, as is poor Lewis.

This post is very beautiful Maggie, even if it’s quite sad. You’re so right that dogs, and even cats love us no matter what. And when they’re gone, you feel that void forever because their love truly touches your life in a way that is irreplaceable. Their impact on our lives and spirit is profound, and not something we can really ever let go of or forget. Pets are truly an amazing gift and a beautiful reminder of the important things in life. XOXOX
